Background of Naria upazila

The historical foundation of the name of Naria, named "Nariya", was not found. It is said that Naria, the largest mausoleum of this area, was converted to Naria Police Station in 1930 and in 1983, Naria Upazila was formed with 15 unions. Nariya Upazila is now comprised of 14 unions, as Nariya union is transformed into Nariya Municipality. Geographically, Naria Upazila is located at 23.25 degree north latitudes and longitude 90.18 degrees east from 21.14 degree. Lauhajang and Tungibari upazilas of Jazira and Munshiganj districts on the north, Shariatpur Sadar and Bhedoranj upazilas on the south, Bhedarganj and Munshiganj Sadar upazilas on the east and Jazira upazila on the west.
